About Us

Matt makes ceramic pots with a deep understanding that we’ve all been created to create. His gifting is in taking raw materials that rest under our feet and mixing, molding and firing them into something functional and beautiful for everyday use. Experience the journey of wild clay pots in the video below.

Statement

Matt and Betsy make pots from a deep understanding that we have all been created to create. Specializing in using Local Wild materials and a wood fired kiln, we explore making pots at the edge of what’s possible, with a sense of place; attempting to re-present a beautiful gift back to God and those who support and join the journey with us.

Matt hand digs and lightly processes wild clay from our area to create our own unique clay body. In making all our own glazes, Matt is also deeply committed to exploring glazes made with local clays, stones, shells and ashes. To fuel our kiln we use scrap wood from local businesses. This wood firing process is dramatic, laborsome and can be unpredictable. Working in tandem, the flame, ash and atmosphere has its way with the pots, drawing great depth and character out of the local materials.

Our passion is taking raw materials from around us and mixing, molding and firing them into something functional and beautiful; pots with a story to enhance everyday moments. Through LOCAL WILD we propose a way of making by merging two images, LOCAL: community, known, rooted and WILD: unknown, raw, frontier.

We love people and building community. A great way to do both is around the table. With this in mind, our artist focus is in making both functional and decorative tableware. We invite you to a deeper connection with people and places through LOCAL WILD pots. Let’s craft a community together.

Roadside Stand &

Special Events

Year round we offer our pots from a roadside stand at our home in Perkasie, PA. Our stand is open on good weather days. If you are traveling a distance, please call or text our contact number to see if the stand will be open. We’d love to see you. Thank you.

We also have special roadside events and indoor sales throughout the year. These include wheel throwing demos, seconds sale and holiday events. Join our Mailing List to be in the know.

We love selling our pots to those in our community and getting to speak with our customers. We started off selling on a roadside table and we’ll keep our roadside tradition going!
